Why Hire Holyoke Works Students?
Workplace Education
At Holyoke Works, it is our goal to be the go-to resource for area employers seeking qualified employment candidates.  We work to establish collaborative relationships with employers who provide job-specific requirements for any openings they may have.  This gives us the opportunity to place skilled employees for long-term employment.

Our Philosophy

Holyoke Works requires a high level of accountability from its participants, consistent with that of employers.  Because we typically spend 20-30 hours per week for up to 42 weeks with our students, we assess them on many levels: track record of attendance and punctuality, attitude, motivation, academic abilities, and a variety of other hard and soft skills.  We therefore make employment referrals with confidence.  We recognize that a poor referral will most likely be the last referral we make to an employer.

Our Track Record

In a very difficult job market, Holyoke Works education and training programs boast a job placement rate in excess of 80%.  Participants enrolled in educational programs along with job training are assessed upon program completion. These results indicate that Holyoke Works has an educational gain rate of 96%.

Why Hire Holyoke Works Students?

Some students attending academic programs at Holyoke Works are eligible for benefits that can serve both the individual and the employer through an On the Job Training (OJT).  In this circumstance, an employer, if eligible, can interview the individual, bring him/her on payroll, and train him/her for a specific position.

Holyoke Works can make arrangements to have up to 50% of the employee's wages paid throughout the length of the training period.  Our connection with the Regional Employment Board of Hampden County allows us to arrange funding through the Workforce Innovation Opportunities Act (WIOA). Hiring a Holyoke Works student can also result in tax incentives for the employer.

Workplace Education

Holyoke Works has ample experience providing Workplace Education.  Area companies have recognized the benefits of upgrading literacy and English-speaking skills of their incumbent employees - not just for new hires.  Holyoke Works can provide Workplace Education for employees on the job site or at Holyoke Works, consisting of ESOL, ABE, HiSET, Nurse Aide, or Computer Applications.

This small investment in the workforce improves employees' written and verbal communication, increases employee efficiency, and addresses safety concerns.  Statistics indicate that these investments in employees also translate to higher employee retention rates.
